Maria Schmitt

Meet Maria Schmitt, a seasoned leadership and learning development expert who brings over 20 years of experience to the table. She has a real passion for helping multinational corporate clients design, develops, and deliver effective learning and development strategies that align perfectly with their business goals.
Maria has had an incredible career journey so far. She has held key positions such as Cohort Director of the Executive MBA at IMD, Head of Global Leadership Programs at the World Economic Forum, Head of Major Donors at WWF International, and has worked as a Learning and Leadership Consultant for various multinational organizations. Her programs have had a remarkable impact, driving positive change in organizations and cultures through strategic people and talent development initiatives.
In addition to her extensive expertise, Maria is also an executive coach. She works with a diverse international clientele, including senior managers and C-suite executives who are going through critical moments in their careers. Maria excels at supporting her clients through personal and professional transitions, expanding their management and leadership skills, and helping them navigate the complex dynamics within their respective work environments.
When it comes to coaching, Maria's approach is rooted in systems psychodynamics, a holistic method that recognizes how the surrounding system influences a client's thoughts and behaviors. She places great emphasis on developing emotional intelligence, as it helps individuals understand the explicit and implicit dynamics that impact their performance across personal, interpersonal, group, and institutional contexts.
Originally from Guatemala and now based in Europe for over 22 years, Maria is fluent in Spanish, English, French, and German. She holds an Executive Master's in Change with a focus on systems psychodynamics from INSEAD, is a certified executive coach from Columbia University's Coaching Certification Program in NYC, and possesses an M.Sc. in Business Administration from HEC University of Geneva.
